52media produced the world’s first streaming media webcast which introduced My Morning Jacket, Paul K and the Prayers and over 300 other Independent artists to tens of thousands of early broadband adopters. This incredible online event which was sponsored by Microsoft, Diamond Multimedia and MP3.com helped to pave the way for companies such as YouTube and Hulu while raising over two tons of canned goods for charity.

Its very exciting to see developments like this and the companies who are taking advantage of them. Its also funny how these types of online features are only now becoming revolutionary and newsworthy. When we did our 52media Indie artist showcase back in 1999, all of this was possible and we made use of them all.
IMO its too bad that the bottom fell out of the tech sector back in 2004. I am imagining what if we could have continued building what all of us little guys had built. Why NOW? Why is Google just NOW telling people about how great new media can be when 11 years ago it was all possible?
Anyway, this is exciting news and gets my creativity flo'n once again.
They mention RocketBoom who just recently signed a 7-figure deal with Sony TV. I found their "Know your Meme" show and watched a few hours of it today and was thoroughly entertained.
This is the way new media needs to look. Their onscreen talent and personalities are extremely likable, their topics are 100% spot on and most importantly, their production is beautiful and genuine.
That right there is a winning combination.
