My Scariest Airplane Experience

July 2001, flight from Orlando to Nashville, heavy rain, the most horrid turbulence I've ever gone through. The plane probably fell 100s if not, 1000s of feet in a split second several times during our trip. People, drinks and baggage thrown all over the place. Children were crying, people were praying out loud and a feeling of "THIS IS IT" was in my gut.

The whole time my co-worker, JasonD was speaking at the top of his voice "It'll be OK, we're going to get through this, we're all going to be alright". Over and over next to me.

When we finally made it out safe and sound back on the ground, I told him that I thought it was very cool how he said all of those things to help calm everyone down. He said "To hell with everyone else, I was doing that for me" which to today -STILL- cracks me up.

I now have a couple of drinks prior to flying.
